28 MSMEs In Central Java Enter Singapore Market, Including Home Decorations And Kitchen Utensils

JAKARTA - As many as 28 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Central Java are trying to enter the Singapore market, through the Gayeng Expo exhibition held at Suntec City Singapore, from April 16 to May 23, 2021.

The exhibition was opened virtually by the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo from Semarang, on Wednesday (28/4). The opening was also attended by the Minister of Industry, the Minister of Cooperatives and MSMEs, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, representatives of the Indonesian Parliament for the Central Java Electoral District, and the Deputy Governor of BI.

The Gayeng Expo is a promotional activity for Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) products from Central Java supported by Bank Indonesia.

Various products from 28 MSMEs in Central Java, including food products, clothing, accessories, home decorations, kitchen utensils, and furniture, were exhibited in Singapore for more than a month. The products displayed are selected through a strict curation process.

With the slogan "Artisan Style of Central Java," it is hoped that various MSME products resulting from the creativity of Central Javanese artisanal creativity can attract Singaporeans and have export-oriented opportunities with partners from Singapore.

In Singapore, the Republic of Indonesian Ambassador for Singapore, Suryo Pratomo stated, at the time of the current pandemic, strong collaboration between various parties, both at the ministerial and local government levels, is needed to encourage increased competitiveness of Indonesian MSMEs in the global market.

Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is the backbone of Indonesia's development and economy.

"It is hoped that this activity can help our MSME products enter the Singapore market and the international market," said Ambassador Suryo Pratomo.

Deputy Governor of BI, Rosmaya Hadi stated that in the current domestic and global economic recovery process, Indonesia needs to take the opportunity to increase the share of MSME trade and attract international investment in creative industries, as well as provide encouragement and export support.

This activity is the third time that BI has held this activity. in order to open access to MSMEs so that they can develop, especially in the midst of a pandemic situation.

The exhibition in Singapore was also attended by, among others, the Mongolian Ambassador as well as the Dean for foreign Ambassadors in Singapore George Tumur, Brunei Darussalam High Commissioner Dato Paduka Haji Sidek Bin Ali, Deputy Chief of Mission Philippines Adrian Bernie Candolada, Deputy Chief of Mission Thailand Twekiat Janprajak, Assistant CEO of Singapore Business Federation Darius Lim, Chairman and Founder of Universal Success Enterprises Prasoon Mukherje, and Chairman and Founder of Scanteak Lim Pok Chin.

The guests get an explanation regarding the culture of Indonesia which is reflected on various products on display. In fact, the guests saw firsthand the process of batik making.
