Sales Of Down Cars In The First Quarter Of 2025, Gaikindo Reveals The Cause
JAKARTA - The Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) revealed that during the first quarter of 2025, car sales fell to 4.7 percent.
This was expressed directly by the General Chairperson of Gaikindo Yohannes Nangoi, and even explained the main cause of the decline in sales during the first quarter.
"The cause is people's purchasing power and there is no buying interest yet," said Nangoi, when met in the Central Jakarta area, some time ago.
Indeed, when referring to existing data (Gaikindo), wholesales throughout January to March 2025 totaled 205,160 cars have been distributed. This figure is shrinking when compared to the same period last year of 215,250 units.
Meanwhile, retail car sales (from dealers to consumers) also fell 8.9 percent in the same period, where this year reached 210,438 units and the previous year 231,027 units (first quarter).
"The world is having a hard time, it's not doing well," he added.

Furthermore, he said, global policies that are still unclear are also the main causes. However, Gaikindo himself will continue to fight for the Indonesian automotive industry, including from the 2025 GIIAS automotive exhibition.
"With the exhibition, it is hoped that interest in buying vehicles is also adam and a sense of knowing the progress of the Indonesian automotive industry," he explained.
GIIAS 2025 itself will take place from July 24 to August 3, the location will still be held at ICE BSD with a total of 55 motorcycle and car brands taking part.
