"Sonny tried really hard. We left him on the weekend to give him time to recover, but he couldn't do it."
"We've been facing challenges like this all year long, it's just a normal thing," Postecoglou told a news conference on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, local time.
The absence of the South Korean international from the squad would be a crushing blow to Postecoglou.
The Australian head coach's position under heavy pressure following Spurs' bad season which cost 17 defeats in the Premier League and is in 15th place in the standings as a result.
The failure to build a promising first season under Postecoglou, exacerbated by an injury crisis in the middle of the season, saw Spurs have only hope of winning the Europa League to save their season and end a 17-year trophy drought.
