Rupiah Money Viral Rp50,000 Wrong Print Circulating, This Is Bank Indonesia's Response
JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) has opened its voice regarding the circulation of issues on social media regarding the Rp50,000 denomination which allegedly suffered a print error due to a lack of one digit zero.
Executive Director of the Communication Department of Bank Indonesia (BI) Ramdan Denny Prakoso said conveying that Rupiah Paper Expenditure Expenditures and Distribution of 50,000 Years of Emission 2022 are regulated in Bank Indonesia Regulation Number 24/9/PBI/2022 or as is the image of money on the BI website.
"Pengeluaran dan Pengedaran Uang Rupiah Kertas Pecahan 50.000 Tahun Emisi 2022 diatur dalam Peraturan Bank Indonesia Nomor 24/9/PBI/2022 https://www.bi.go.id/id/publikasi/peraturan/Documents/PBI_240922.pdf atau sebagaimana gambar uang pada website BI https://www.bi.go.id/id/rupiah/gambar-uang/Detail-Uang.aspx?Bahan=Kertas&ID=2," ujarnya kepada VOI, Rabu, 16 April.
Denny emphasized that in this case, if people find Rupiah money that is deemed inappropriate, the public is advised to clarify the doubtful money to the nearest Bank Indonesia.

In addition, Denny explained this in accordance with Bank Indonesia Regulation No.21/10/PBI/2019 concerning Rupiah Money Management, in the event that the Rupiah money is declared genuine, Bank Indonesia will provide a replacement of a nominal value.
"Bank Indonesia invites the public to recognize the characteristics of the authenticity of Rupiah's money through the 3D method (viewed, felt, scanned). Also always taking care of Rupiah money to protect yourself from the crime of counterfeit money," he said.
Previously, it went viral on social media which showed an oddity in the Rp50,000 rupiah denomination but it was written only Rp. 5,000. As for the alleged wrong print, the article at the top was written at Rp. 5,000 but at the bottom it was written at Rp. 50,000.
