Apple Folding IPhone Will Come With Camera Below Screen

JAKARTA - Apple is reportedly developing a foldable iPhone that has been waiting for, or the so-called "iPhone Fold", which will feature two screens in its bookstyle folding design. A leaker from China claims to have known the resolutions for both screens.

According to the Weibo Digital Chat Station account, the foldable iPhone's inner screen, which is estimated to measure about 7.76 inches, will use a resolution of 2,713 x 1,920 pixels and is equipped with under-screen camera technology. Meanwhile, the 5.49-inch outer screen will use a resolution of 2,088 x 1,422 pixels, and it is reported that this screen will be equipped with a punch-hole camera.

Digital Chat Station has previously claimed that the inner screen will have an aspect ratio of 4:3, and they also leaked the dimension of the iPhone Fold screen. A trusted Apple industry analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, later confirmed the dimension, and mentioned that this foldable iPhone's inner screen is free of folding. However, the use of camera technology under the screen was first revealed in this leak.

Previous rumors also mentioned that Apple was working on a folding iPad, and the Digital Chat Station previously also revealed that it is likely to use Face ID technology under the scenes.

This suggests that Apple may be trying to create design uniformity between its two foldable devices. Kuo also believes that a foldable iPhone rear camera will use two lenses, while this device will leave Face ID and replace it with a fingerprint scanner on the side button to save internal space.

Mark Gurman, a Bloomberg journalist best known for a report on Apple, revealed that this folding iPhone is expected to be launched next year at a price of around US$2,000 (around Rp.33 million). According to analyst Jeff Pu, the device has just entered the New Product Recognition (NPI) stage at Foxconn, with mass production expected to begin in the second half of 2026.

Expected Features On IPhone Fold

According to Gurman, this device will take advantage of the various advances Apple has made in the development of the iPhone 17 Air, which is expected to replace the "Plus" model in Apple's smartphone line this year. Various advanced technologies in terms of screens, batteries, modems, and chips will be present on this foldable iPhone, which promises new experiences for its users.

With all the developments, Apple's folding iPhone looks even more attractive to technology enthusiasts, even with a premium price that is expected to reach 2,000 US dollars. Apple's decision to use under-screen camera technology and this folding design demonstrates the company's commitment to creating new innovations in the folding phone world.
