3 Police Involved In Extortion At The Central Java Police Detention Center, Dipatsus

Three policemen involved in illegal levies (extortion) against detainees at the Central Java Regional Police (Polda) State Detention Center (Rutan) were investigated for Profession and Security of the Central Java Police.

The Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Pol. Artanto said the three policemen were Aiptu P, Bripka W and Bripka SU. All three have been special placements (patsus).

"The three anggora officers are suspected of violating standard procedures while guarding detainees," he said in Semarang, Monday, April 14, as reported by Antara.

According to him, the three members of the Central Java Police were suspected of carrying out transactional activities with the detainees.

In handling the case, he said, the police had also asked Z, a former Central Java Police detainee who gave a statement about the existence of extortion.

He added that there was sufficient initial evidence of the actions of the police which had been going on for about 1 year.

The three policemen, he continued, will undergo a police ethics disciplinary process to determine the sanctions imposed.
