Ardhito Pramono Admits Obstacle When Writing And Bringing Indonesian Lirik With Wijaya 80

JAKARTA - The name Ardhito Pramono as a soloist who debuted in the Indonesian music industry in 2017, is known for the songs that most of the lyrics use English.

Ardhito became a separate phenomenon in the national music scene, which did not need to change the habit of releasing English songs, and still managed to enter the realm of mainstream.

However, the breakthrough was only carried out in August 2024. Ardhito and Hezky Joe and Erikson Jayanto debuted as Wijaya 80.

Different when he became a soloist, Ardhito as part of Wijaya 80, comes with songs that so far all the lyrics use Indonesian. Not only that, the writing style has become more poetic, just like songs from the 1980s.

Ardhito admitted that he felt awkward when writing and singing Wijaya 80 songs. However, he sees it as a new lesson.

"In fact, I practice writing in Indonesian with Hezky Joe. If it feels awkward (when writing and singing Indonesian) there must be," said Ardhito when met in Cikini, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, April 9.

The 29-year-old singer sees an opportunity to explore more widely in music, while maintaining Ardhito Pramono's style as a soloist and part of Wijaya 80.

"That's why Ardhito (as a soloist) remains in his English. But to write more poetic lyrics, I will put them on Wijaya80, with Hezky and Erikson," he said.

Furthermore, Ardhito said that Wijaya 80 had prepared a lot of material for release, but they would sort it out first before being heard to the public, because some materials containing lyrics were "explicit".

"We want to give positive lyrics. Because I have a girl, I don't want my girl to hear a song (cau) whose lyrics are adults," he concluded.
