Real Madrid Vs Chelsea 1-1: The Blues Gets Important Away Goals

JAKARTA - Chelsea picked up an important away goal in the Champions League semifinals after offsetting Real Madrid with a score of 1-1 in the first leg at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium, Madrid, Spain, Tuesday local time (Wednesday western Indonesia time).

Thomas Tuchel's team took the lead over the hosts in the 14th minute through Christian Pulisic's goal, Antara reported according to the official UEFA website.

Receiving a long pass from Antonio Ruediger, Pulisic coolly tricked goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and finished with a powerful shot past two Real Madrid defenders who were trying to get their bodies in front of goal.

Four minutes earlier, Timo Werner had almost opened Chelsea's lead early had Courtois cleared his volley with his foot.

Since conceding, Real Madrid has tried to find the best tempo of play, unfortunately, Karim Benzema's shot still hit the post in the 23rd minute.

Six minutes later, Real Madrid equalized when Benzema found Eder Militao's header with a volley that beat goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Chelsea was close to restoring its lead four minutes from half-time when Werner pushed his way into the Real Madrid box from the right, unfortunately, his finishing shot had yet to hit the mark.

Three minutes into the second half Werner had another good chance and he finished well, unfortunately, this time his shot was blocked by Militao in front of the Los Blancos goal.

In the 50th minute, it was the hosts' turn to take the lead, unfortunately, Benzema's shot was still over the crossbar.

Both teams kept trying to find the winning goal, but none of their efforts paid off until the match ended with a score of 1-1.

One away goal is clearly an important asset for Chelsea who will change to host Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge, on Wednesday, May 5 next week.
