Prabowo Wants Permendag 8/2024 To Be Revoked, Ministry Of Trade: Still Revived
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto wants the Regulation of the Minister of Trade (Permendag) Number 8 of 2024 concerning Import Policy and Regulations to be revoked if it is not profitable for Indonesia.
Responding to this, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) Isy Karim said that his party was still reviewing the Permendag together with the relevant ministries/agencies.
"Now the position is being reviewed. We have held several meetings with ministries/agencies and business actors," said Isy at the Ministry of Trade office, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 9.
Isy explained that changes to Permendag 8/2024, both in the form of revision and revocation, are currently still in the discussion stage.
He also said that his party was still waiting for directions from the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy.
"There will indeed be changes. Now that's what we are discussing first. But we are waiting for the direction of the Coordinating Minister first," he said.
Furthermore, Isy said, before reporting further to the president, there would be discussions under the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto first.
"Of course, before reporting to the president, there will definitely be talks between ministries/agencies first under the Coordinating Minister. So that this will be like what, then brought to the president," he said.
