Not V8, Mercedes-AMG C 63 Latest Will Use 6-Silinder Machine Next Year

JAKARTA - It is no secret that the current generation of Mercedes-AMG C 63 is not well received by some parties. This is because the manufacturer decided to remove the 4.0 liter V8 machine and replace it with a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder coupled plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system.

Of course, the German manufacturer is aware of this and will seek various ways so that this high-performance sedan has many enthusiasts like the previous generation. One way that brands are thinking about is to bring C 63 with the latest 6-cylinder engine.

Autocar reported on Tuesday, April 8, the car will receive a 6-cylinder runway combined with PHEV. This is part of the mid-life facelift of the model which is planned to launch in 2026.

The facelift version of C 63 will receive a 6-cylinder engine with a configuration of 3.0 liters, as has been applied by other AMGs such as E 53, GLE 53, CLE 53 Coupe, and CLE 53 Cabriolet.

Not only will they be present in the latest C 63 model, the core power will also be present in models such as the updated GLC 63 and will launch in 2027.

The 3.0 liter 6-cylinder turbo M256 engine is expected to provide an energy boost of 480 cellphones or potentially more than 650 cellphones if combined with an electric motor with a torque of 880 Nm.

Thus, this report at the same time ensures that the V8 engine will not be present in the latest version of C 63. It said packaging on the MRA platform was one of the factors for Mercedes-AMG to cross out the machine option from the list.

We need more space, not only in terms of physical dimensions but also for related cooling systems and collisional protection measures,' said one source.

It is said that the C-Class engine space is currently suitable for 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engines. If the V8 engine will still be presented, then the manufacturer must make significant structural changes.

However, this doesn't make Mercedes-AMG just leave the V8 engine. The division plans to invest the powertrain on CLE 63 Coupe and CLE 63 Cabriolet which are expected to launch by the end of this year.

The highest type of CLE family will have a flat-plane-crank version of the 4.0 liter V8 twin-turbo M177 engine configuration.
