Illegal Parking Mode At Makassar Port Revealed, Perpetrator Arrested After Viral Video

Makassar Port Police Criminal Investigation Team arrested a thug named Dhika Saenal (38) for extorting prospective passengers with illegal parking mode at Makassar Port, South Sulawesi.

"The perpetrator has been arrested on Jalan Butung. This is based on public unrest and complaints and the video has gone viral on social media asking for money on the grounds of parking services," said Makassar Port Police Ghost Dantim Aiptu Rudi, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 8.

The modus operandi of the perpetrators was to ask for money roughly from the vehicle owner when taking his family to Makassar Port on the homecoming flow and back to Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijriah.

Rudi said the parking money requested by the perpetrators per one vehicle was Rp. 10,000. However, when asked to show the parking ticket in question, he could not show and even spoke rudely to the vehicle owner.

The victim's action was recorded and then went viral on social media. From the video recording, the perpetrator forced to be given Rp. 10,000 for illegal parking services, but the victim only gave Rp. 5,000.

"From this information, the team moved quickly to secure it. The perpetrator asked for Rp. 10,000 without an official ticket or illegal parking. Meanwhile, we have secured it at the Port Police Headquarters to account for his actions," said Rudi.

During the homecoming and backflow of Lebaran, illegal parking practices were rife around Makassar Port. The thugs turned into illegal parking attendants who set a parking price of IDR 10,000 for motorbikes and IDR 20-IDR 25 thousand for cars.

This practice makes the introduction and passengers who come and arrive at Makassar Port restless.

They were suddenly asked for money by thugs who saw the victim trying to take a vehicle. In fact, passengers who want to get into an online taxi were also blackmailed.

Their action was brave even though they were close to the Police Post in front of Gate II of Makassar Port. Even though the police had brought order, these thugs were good at playing hide and seek with the authorities.
