Before Dying, Ray Sahetapy Had Suffered a Stroke

JAKARTA - Actor Ray Sahetapy passed away on Tuesday, April 1. The sad news was shared by his family via their personal Instagram account.

Ray Sahetapy passed away at 21.04 WIB. However, the family has not explained the cause of the senior actor's death.

In the middle of the process, Ray Sahetapy was revealed to have suffered a stroke which made him rarely act. In 2023, one of his children, Rama Sahetapy, had time to tell the story of the process.

"Dad was at his relative's house. He was sleeping. Usually he was helped to walk, suddenly dad came down because dad was on the second floor and all the siblings were downstairs. Dad suddenly came down the stairs and without being held, everyone was shocked. Dad was like a confused person, he sat down suddenly had difficulty speaking, and was taken to the emergency room," said Rama Sahetapy in 2023.

A few months later, he appeared thinner. In 2024, Rama and his wife, Merdi shared a portrait with Ray Sahetapy.

The actor looked thin with his thighs shrinking. He wore a red shirt with Merdi and Rama.

On the other hand, Surya Sahetapy, Ray's other son, shared a farewell message to his father by sharing a photo together.

"Farewell, father. We always cherish the memories of our time with you," wrote Surya Sahetapy.

Ray Sahetapy passed away at the age of 68.
