Father Of Child Helps Indian Citizen To Escape COVID-19 Quarantine, Police: Person Of DKI Tourism Office

JAKARTA - The police said that the father and son who helped foreign citizens from India escape the quarantine period were members of the DKI Jakarta Tourism Office. This is known from the identity cards found.

"If from the Airport Pass (card) they have, it is stated on the airport pass that the Jakarta Tourism Office", said Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Chief Kombes Adi Ferdian to reporters, Tuesday, April 27.

This card is a sign of permission to enter a restricted area to a certain area. Usually used by parties from certain agencies.

However, the police chief did not reveal the identity of the father and son with the initials S and RW. The development of case handling will be conveyed by Jakarta Metro Police.

As previously reported, the police arrested the father and son for allegedly helping a foreign national from India with the initials JD to enter Indonesia through Soekarno-Hatta Airport without a quarantine period.

Head of Public Relations of Jakarta Metro Police Kombes Yusri Yunus said the father and son had the initials S and RW. They were arrested on Sunday, April 25th.

"Those concerned (JD) without passing quarantine then managed by someone with the initials S and RW can succeed without quarantine and continue to return to their homes", said Yusri to reporters, Monday, April 26.

In acting, the father and son claimed to be airport officers. They offered JD assistance in exchange for around IDR 6.5 million.

"This is what was then carried out by these perpetrators, be it the caretaker or the passenger to avoid the 14-day quarantine. He paid IDR 6.5 million to brother S. This mode is what we are currently investigating", said Yusri.
