American MotoGP Results 2025: Bagnaia Champion, Marquez Falls
JAKARTA Francesco Bagnaia managed to take advantage of the fall of Marc Marquez to secure the first podium of the 2025 MotoGP race at the United States Grand Prix.
The Italian rider finished in pole position at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Austin, Texas, United States, on Sunday, March 30, 2025 local time or Monday, March 31, 2025 Indonesian time.
Bagnaia finished in the third drama series race with a time of 39 minutes 00.191 seconds. The Ducati Lenovo Team racer was followed by Alex Marquez in second place with a time gap of +2.089 seconds.
This is Alex's third consecutive time defending BK8 Gresini MotoGP Team finishing in second place. In the previous two series in Argentina and Thailand, he also occupies the same position.
Following the two names in third place in Austin is Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team). This is the second time Giannantonio has occupied the place after previously being in the second series in Argentina.
The COTA race started with drama at the final seconds before the start light went out. Race Direction initially declared a wet race for the American GP, but Marquez instead decided to switch to motorcycle with slick aka dry tires.
The Spanish rider ran back into the pit lane to take the slick tire motorbike, followed by Bagnaia, Alex Marquez, Giannantonio, to Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP).
The aftermath of the chaos also made the start postponed and the distance from the race was cut by one lap to 19 Lap. The delay lasted for approximately 15 minutes before the American GP began.
Marquez started well from pole position. He even easily built the advantage one second more before the end of the opening lap, followed by his younger brother Alex in second place in the tight competition with Bagnaia.
However, three laps later Bagnaia overtook Alex to take second place. At the same time Marquez began to be so comfortable to occupy the most important position with an advantage close to two seconds.
In the midst of the top five controlled by Ducati riders, the ranks are presenting the tight duel Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team) who competed against the Honda HRC Castrol duo: Luca Marini and Joan Mir.
The drama then occurred when the race entered the ninth lap. Marc Marquez fell at Turn 4 and was still able to continue the race, but he then gave up because his motorbike was damaged by the release of a footrest on the right side.
