The Motive For US Caucasians Who Stealed A Suitcase Belonging To A Bulgarian Woman For Running Out Of Money
The Kuta Sector Police, Bali revealed the motive for an American foreigner with the initials SLS to steal goods belonging to a Bulgarian foreigner at an inn in Kuta, Bali for allegedly running out of money.
Head of the Denpasar Police Public Relations Section, AKP Ketut Sukadi, confirmed the incident. The perpetrator's mode of theft was pretending to be a guest at a resort in Kuta, then took a woman from Bulgaria named Desislava Dimitrova Harseva.
"The reported perpetrator committed the theft because he had run out of money and to meet the needs of his life in Bali," said Sukadi in Denpasar, Antara, Sunday, March 30.
Sukadi explained that the theft occurred on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at around 21.00 WITA.
At that time, the victim was about to report himself (check in) to stay at a resort in the Kuta area. The victim at that time brought a suitcase containing his luggage and then entrusted it to a hotel employee.
However, when he finished checking in, the Bulgarian foreigner did not find the suitcase that was deposited.
"The hotel checked CCTV footage and it was seen on CCTV that a foreigner took the suitcase belonging to the reporter," said Sukadi.
The suitcases that were lost were the black Bebe brand which contained a Fossil Wrist watch, Tomford sunglasses, Bubury sunglasses, Torry Burch starglasses, Tom Ford reading glass, 25 pcs of clothing, Nike shoes, Michael Kors shoes, Car Walker shoes.
In addition, there are also medicines, women's makeup equipment and bags.
If cashed, the amount reached around Rp. 76 million.
After receiving the report from the Bulgarian foreigner, the Kuta Police Criminal Investigation Unit conducted an investigation until it was finally suspected that the perpetrator was arrested at a hotel on Jalan Legian, Kuta, Badung, Bali where the alleged perpetrator was staying. It is suspected that the perpetrator was then taken to the Kuta Police for questioning.
Sukadi said that during interrogation, it was suspected that the perpetrator admitted to committing the theft as recorded by the CCTV camera at the scene.
