The Explosion In Jember Destroyed The House As A Result Of Its Occupants Smoking During The Rest Of The Firecrackers

JAKARTA - A firecracker explosion occurred in Antirogo Village, Jember Regency, Saturday, March 29. This incident caused a house to be destroyed and a victim suffered serious burns.

"It is true that there was a firecracker explosion in one of the houses of a resident in Antirogo Village, Sumbersari District. After we visited the scene of the case, it was found that one house was heavily damaged," said Jember Police Chief AKBP Bayu Pratama Gubunagi at the Jember Police Headquarters, East Java, Saturday, March 29, confiscated by Antara.

According to him, the explosion occurred at Nur Imam Ghozali's house. In this place, the person concerned mixed firecrackers with powder raw materials.

Based on information from a number of witnesses, it was stated that the explosion occurred when the occupants of the house were resting while smoking not far from the place where the firecrackers were mixed. A moment later suddenly there was an explosion that was loud enough to make the house heavily damaged.

When the firecracker explosion occurred, he continued, three people were inside the house, and two of them were injured in the explosion, namely Nur Imam Ghazali, who suffered 50 percent burns and his 14-year-old son suffered minor injuries.

"We have secured the crime scene (TKP) and conducted a crime scene investigation to look for the remaining bulk powder raw materials that may cause aftershocks when there is a hotspot," he said.

AKBP Bayu said that the Jember Police also coordinated with the East Java Police Labfor to ensure the source of the explosion and raw materials used for firecrackers that caused a large explosion, even causing the house to be heavily damaged.

"The evidence that was secured was two packs of firecrackers/mercon plastic that had been filled and had not been filled with powder," he said.

For victims, he continued, they are still being treated at the Regional Hospital (RSD) dr. Soebandi Jember.

The police chief appealed to the public not to make or sell firecrackers ahead of Lebaran 2025 because it could endanger themselves and others.
