Haramain High Speed Train Records Daily Number Of Passengers On 15 Ramadan
JAKARTA - The Haramain High Speed Train in Saudi Arabia set a record for the highest number of passengers transported in a day since its inauguration in 2018.
The record was recorded on 15 Ramadan 1446 Hijri or 15 March 2025 with around 48,000 successfully transported, quoted from the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) March 26.
Since the beginning of the holy month, the average daily passenger has exceeded 39,000 passengers, reflecting the high demand for trains as the fastest means to reach Mecca.
SAR has gradually increased the number of trips since the beginning of Ramadan, reaching 130 trips a day over the past 10 days to accommodate Umrah pilgrims, worshipers and visitors to holy places, quoted from Arab News.
To accommodate this significant demand, Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has adjusted the train schedule to suit peak times for Umrah pilgrims, worshipers and visitors. Modifications have also been made on passenger flow routes inside additional stations and waiting rooms have been provided at Medina Station to facilitate smoother movement and improve travel experience.
