Puan: Leadership Receives RKUHAP Surpres, Will Be Discussed By Commission III Of The DPR

JAKARTA - The chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, said that the leadership of the Indonesian House of Representatives had received a presidential letter (Surpres) regarding the discussion of the Draft Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).

This was conveyed by Puan in the 16th plenary session closing the second session of 2024-2025 at the DPR RI Building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, March 25.

"We need to inform you that the leadership of the council has received a letter from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, namely number R19/Pres/03/2025 regarding the appointment of representatives of the government to discuss the draft Law on the Criminal Procedure Code," said Puan in the meeting room.

Puan said that the Surpres regarding the Criminal Procedure Code Bill would be followed up by Commission III of the DPR. "The letter will be followed up in accordance with DPR RI regulation number 1 of 2020 concerning rules and applicable mechanisms," said Puan.

"This is a domain or main duties of Commission III," he added.

After the plenary meeting, Puan emphasized that there was no attractive attraction between the Legislation Body (Baleg) and Commission III of the DPR to discuss the Criminal Procedure Code Bill.

"There was no attractive appeal, just received the letter. So it was because it was closed during the trial period, and then the letter was received, so we just read it," said Puan.

"Indeed (RKUHAP) domain is the domain of commission III. However, it will only be decided after the opening of the trial period, where will it be discussed," he concluded.
