Luhut Expects Kediri Airport Built By Gudang Garam Belongs To Conglomerate Susilo Wonowidjojo To Be Completed In 2023

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan hopes that the construction of Dhoho Airport, Kediri, East Java, can be completed on time, namely in mid-2023.

"I hope this project can run well so that it can improve people's lives, and will be completed on time in mid-2023," said Luhut during his visit to Kediri Dhoho Airport, as quoted from Antara, Tuesday, April 27.

During the visit, Luhut was accompanied by Kediri Regent Hanindhito Himawan Pramana, director of PT Gudang Garam Istata Aswin Sidarta along with representatives from PT Surya Dhoho Investama (SDHI).

"I see that the construction of Kediri Airport has made a lot of progress. The Regent of Kediri has reported the progress of the construction, the road has been made, part of the land has also been cleared," explained Luhut.

Based on the explanation from PT Gudang Garam Tbk Tbk as an investor in the construction of Kediri Airport, the airport is expected to increase connectivity and economic growth in Kediri and its surroundings. The development process at the airport has now entered the land preparation stage.

Kediri Airport has an area of 317 hectares and crosses several villages around it. The airport will be a big hope for Kediri and its surrounding areas as an alternative gateway to enter East Java. It is also hoped that the mobility of residents in the villages around the airport will increase.

"This airport is planned to become an international airport so that the center for Haj and Umrah can be divided into two airports, not only the airport in Surabaya," said Luhut.

The former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs added that the airport was also a way to improve connectivity for the southern region in East Java.
