Michael Jordan Was Offered IDR 247 Billion For Boxing Debut
JAKARTA The legendary basketball player Michael Jordan once received a lucrative offer worth 15 million US dollars or around Rp. 247 billion if he wanted to make his debut in boxing.
Jordan is often considered one of the greatest basketball players ever in history. He was recorded as winning six NBA titles while playing for the Chicago Bulls.
In addition, he also won two Olympic gold medals on two different occasions, in 1984 in Los Angeles and 1992 in Barcelona, respectively.
Having a big name like Jordan is clearly a magnet for money. And Duva as the promoter at that time even guaranteed Jordan could get a total of 25 million US dollars if he won a boxing duel.
"Michael Jordan who fights for the heavyweight title will be the most spectacular event in sports history. This offer is not a joke. We are 100 percent serious," Duva said as quoted by Sportbible.

The wife of the late Duva, Kathy, also confirmed the offer. They are ready to spend a large amount of money because they have the belief that Jordan has extraordinary capacities.
However, the amount of money prepared is comparable to the potential opponents that Jordan will face in the boxing ring.
According to the report, Jordan was asked to challenge the undisputed world heavyweight title against big names like Evander Holyfield or Michael Moorer.
"There is no doubt that Dan Duva will be happy to pay Michael Jordan 15 million US dollars. A very large amount at that time if he was willing to try boxing," he said.
However, Jordan loudly rejected the offer. The legend certainly knows the names above are not opponents he can face when they meet in a boxing ring that is not his sport.
"I wouldn't fight those people even though I held a gun in my hand," Jordan said.
Michael Jordan often sees himself as the greatest basketball player of all time. That's because not only his dominance on the pitch, but also his success in changing the way the world sees basketball.
Jordan was praised as a true legend not only for his brilliant career in the NBA and his extraordinary achievements but also for the impact he managed to have off the field.
