President Prabowo Subianto Encourages All Citizens To Have Banking Accounts

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto appealed to the public to have a banking account to achieve inclusive finance. Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto hopes that the account can be interpreted as studying the esiko of intertaiment.

"So earlier reported related to financial inclusion, where the number of Indonesians who already have banking facilities is around 89 percent. In terms of spatial terms, several regions are also good, except for example in North Maluku, Halmahera. Therefore, in the future, it will be more encouraged by learning so that they can take advantage of accounts and know investment risks," said Airlangga as quoted by ANTARA in Jakarta, Saturday, March 22.

As a manifestation of the implementation, the government has formed an Inclusive National Financial Council (DNKI) which is chaired directly by the President. In addition, State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) are also given a mandate to encourage financial literacy.

Through the establishment of conducive policies and regulations as well as the use of financial information technology infrastructure that supports effective implementation organizations and mechanisms, it is hoped that DNKI can be utilized in various sectors, including in supporting government sector financial services.

One of the government sector's financial services programs is in the form of an electronic program for government assistance and subsidies. This is in line with the target group for financial inclusion, one of which is low-income people.

In addition, the target for financial inclusion also includes MSME actors, as well as cross-group communities consisting of groups of students, students, students, youth, then groups of migrant workers, groups of people with social welfare problems, ex-convicts, neglected children, disabilities, community groups in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas, as well as women's groups.

"With the synergy and collaboration of all K/L members of DNKI, the level of financial inclusion in 2023 has reached 88.7 percent for account use and 76.3 percent for account ownership. In the RPJMN, account usage is targeted to reach 91 percent by 2025 and 93 percent by 2029," said Airlangga, who is also the Daily Chair of DNKI.

The development of account ownership, account use, and financial literacy in Indonesia so far has shown a positive trend, especially since the launch of DNKI for the first time in 2016.

As of 2023, adults who already have formal financial accounts reach 76.3 percent.

Meanwhile, the percentage of adults who have used formal financial accounts has reached 88.7 percent.

However, the level of financial literacy has only reached 65.4 percent, although it has increased significantly compared to the previous year which reached 49.7 percent.

There are still several socio-economic groups that have not substantially reached formal financial services. There is a significant gap between the level of financial inclusion of urban communities by 91.5 percent and rural communities by 84.8 percent. However, there is no significant difference if based on gender and age demographics," he explained.

Through Presidential Instruction Number 4 of 2025 and to integrate social and national economic data and synergize data between Ministries/Agencies, the government also has an integrated database in the form of National Sole Social Economic Data (DTSEN) which integrates various social and economic data sources to create more accurate and targeted data.

The implementation of DTSEN is carried out by combining three main databases, namely DTKS, Regsosek, and P3KE Data.

In the implementation of the DTSEN, data collection on beneficiary registry has been carried out, including 10 million KPM PKH recipients, 18.8 million KPM basic food assistance recipients, 21.5 million PIP recipients, 96.8 million PBI JKN recipients, 16.4 million Pre-Employment Card recipients, 40.7 million electricity subsidy recipients, and 7.05 million KUR debtors.

Single identifier data can also be used in payment systems for digital distribution of social assistance, foreign exchange traffic monitoring, and increasing tax compliance.

"DTSEN is in line with the total population of Indonesia as of February 3, 2025, as many as 93 million families and 285.5 million people," he concluded.
