PDIP Legislator Asks TNI Commander To Withdraw His Soldiers Apart From 14 Ministries And Institutions
JAKARTA - Member of Commission I DPR RI from the PDIP faction, TB Hasanuddin asked the TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto to immediately issue a warrant for soldiers who are still on duty outside 14 Ministries/Institutions to resign or retire.
This follows the ratification of the Draft Law on Amendments to Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the Indonesian National Army (TNI) into law in a plenary session of the DPR which was held on Thursday, March 20.
In one of the provisions in the spotlight is the allowing of active TNI soldiers to occupy positions in 14 ministries and institutions, which were previously proposed by 16 ministries and institutions.
"We must obey the principles. I ask the TNI Commander to immediately issue a warrant, so that all active soldiers outside 14 K/L who are allowed to resign or retire according to applicable regulations," said TB Hasanuddin, Friday, March 21.
Maj. Gen. Retired TNI said the number of soldiers affected by this change could reach thousands, including those who are currently serving in various State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), the Hajj Organizing Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Transportation, Staff or aides in various ministries/agencies and so on.
Therefore, according to TB, this transitional policy needs to be carried out properly so as not to disrupt the stability of the TNI's organization and professionalism.
TB Hasanuddin also emphasized that this new rule is part of efforts to strengthen TNI reform to remain professional and focus on its main duties in national defense.

"We want to make sure that this rule goes well and all parties carry out their duties in accordance with applicable regulations," he said.
With the enactment of this new TNI Law, TB Hasanuddin hopes that all active soldiers outside 14 K/L who are allowed to adjust to applicable regulations.
"This is for the sake of maintaining the solidity and professionalism of the TNI institutions," he concluded.
