Firli Bahuri Withdraws Lawsuit Again, Polda Metro Alludes To First Pretrial Results

JAKARTA - The former chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Firli Bahuri, officially withdrew the pretrial lawsuit regarding his suspect status related to the alleged bribery and gratification case. Related to this, Polda Metro Jaya responded by bringing up the first pretrial lawsuit with the results of his rejection of the application.

"In the first pretrial lawsuit, all those related to investigative activities carried out by the investigative team, have been tested at the prepid hearing at the South Jakarta District Court and as a result, the sole judge at that time rejected the prepid lawsuit from the plaintiff," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak to VOI, Wednesday, March 19.

Firli Bahuri's first pretrial lawsuit was not accepted because the argument presented was considered vague or unclear. Because, mixing the formal and material elements or the main case in the lawsuit.

In addition, Ade also stated that his party would always be ready to face Firli Bahuri and his attorney if he wanted to re-test the validity of the suspect determination process.

"If we from the investigative team are always ready and very ready at any time if the suspect or his legal representative wants to test the validity of the investigation and the determination of the suspect that has been carried out by the investigative team through the case title mechanism," he said.

On the other hand, Ade also stated that in handling cases of alleged bribery and gratification, Firli Bahuri as a suspect had been professional without any intervention from any party.

"I ensure that the investigation into the handling of the a quo case runs professionally, transparently and accountably, and is free from any form of intervention or pressure," said Ade.

Firli Bahuri decided to withdraw the pretrial application regarding the status of the suspect in the case of alleged bribery and gratification. It is noted that Firli has twice withdrawn the lawsuit.

"We hereby declare that we revoke the pretrial application that we have registered with the South Jakarta District Court on March 12, 2025," said Firli Bahuri's attorney, Ian Iskandar during a trial at the South Jakarta District Court.

The reason for the revocation of the pretrial lawsuit was because it was still things that had to be corrected in the application. Ramadan is said to be one of the other reasons behind the withdrawal of the application.

As a reminder, Firli Bahuri has filed three pretrial lawsuits. In the first pretrial lawsuit, the judge who tried the case decided not to accept it.

Then, Firli submitted his second application on January 22, 2024. However, a few days later, January 30, 2024, the pretrial application was withdrawn.
