Israeli Minister Of Finance: IDF Intensifies Strikes In Gaza In Order To Restore All Hostages

JAKARTA - Israel plans to continue its war in the Gaza Strip since Eyal Zamir was appointed Army Chief of Staff (KSAD).

Citing Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's upload on X, Anadolumel reported that the Israeli attack was a "phase process that has been built and planned in recent weeks since the new chief of staff took office" that would look very different from what has been done so far.

"As we promised, the IDF (landlift) took action again with a devastating attack on Gaza with the aim of destroying Hamas, repatriating all hostages, and removing the threat posed by the Gaza Strip against Israelis," Smotrich said.

Zamir served as Army Chief of Staff in early March, replacing Hervi Halevi who served during Israel's war of genocide in the Palestinian enclave since October 2023.

Israeli soldiers began attacking Gaza in the early hours of Tuesday, killing more than 326 people and injuring hundreds. The attack violated a ceasefire agreement that came into force on January 19.

Despite arguing of destroying Hamas, the images emerging from Gaza suggest that the majority of the victims were civilians, including women and children, whose houses were bombed at night.

On Monday, Israeli public television station KAN reported that Zamir approved a military plan to continue the war in Gaza, including intensifying airstrikes, expanding ground operations, and expelling residents from northern Gaza.

More than 48,500 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and more than 112,000 others have been injured during Israel's blind military aggression in Gaza since October 2023.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant against Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister,Yoav Gallant, for crimes of war and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel is also facing genocide cases at the International Court of Justice over its war in the Palestinian territories.
