Mandate Law, Minister Karding Ensures KemenP2MI Guards 554 Indonesian Citizens Victims Of Myanmar Fraud To The Family
JAKARTA - The Indonesian government has succeeded in repatriating 554 Indonesian citizens (WNI) who are also illegal migrant workers who are victims of the crime of trafficking in persons (TPPO) from Myawaddy, Myanmar.
The Minister of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), Abdul Kadir Karding, emphasized that his party would oversee the return of Indonesian citizens to their families.
"We (KemenP2MI) by law are given the mandate to protect migrant workers, ensure that all those who return home are handled and escorted to their homes," he said during a press conference for the repatriation of 554 Indonesian citizens at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Antara, Tuesday, March 18.
The return of hundreds of Indonesian citizens took place in two stages. The first stage on Tuesday today was 400 people. While the second stage will take place on Wednesday, 154 people. Of the total 554 Indonesian citizens who were sent home, 449 men and 105 women. They were sent home via Don Mueang Airport, Bangkok, Thailand.
Minister Karding said hundreds of Indonesian migrant workers would be recorded and carried out various examinations. From psychological to mental. Later, Indonesian migrant workers will also get social reintegration from the Ministry of P2MI to be ready to return to society.
"We are also preparing legal assistance for them," said Karding.
This National Awakening Party (PKB) politician added that his ministry, together with related ministries and the police will thoroughly investigate the network of illegal migrant workers and TIP workers who brought hundreds of Indonesian citizens to work in Myanmar.
"This includes our records to continue to improve the governance of the process of recruiting prospective Indonesian migrant workers abroad," added Minister Karding.
Meanwhile, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Budi Gunawan, added that 554 Indonesian citizens who were victims of TIP online scams would be accommodated at Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, Jakarta.
They, said Budi Gunawan, will be given health services and psychosocial assistance for physical and mental protection. They will also be assessed to determine whether it is true that hundreds of people who were sent home were victims or there were perpetrators among them.
