Latest Generation Jeep Cherokee Caught On Camera, Ready To Come With New Design And Technology

JAKARTA The Jeep is preparing the latest generation of its iconic SUV, Cherokee, after its previous model was stopped production in 2023. The presence of this new model became even more evident after its prototype was caught on camera being tested on the road in camouflage.

Despite being shrouded in disguise, this SUV silhouette shows a number of significant changes, especially in the exterior. Citing Carscoops' report on Monday, March 17, the front and back doors seem to adopt a design inspired by Wagoneer S. Meanwhile, the back looks more perpendicular to the larger D pillar, giving a dashing and sturdy impression.

Not only in terms of appearance, the latest Cherokee prototype is also equipped with a simpler calibre brake and uses Pirelli Scorpion tires designed for optimal performance on off-road and highway terrains.

The SUV will be built on the STLA Large platform, the latest architecture of Stellantis designed for large-dimensional vehicles with a focus on functionality. The model is predicted to be present in several machine variants, including the choice of conventional machines (ICE), hybrids, as well as possible versions of pure electricity in the future.

Although the official specifications have not been announced, the latest generation Cherokee is expected to have several engine options, ranging from 2.0 liter 4-cylinder linear, 2.4 liter Tigershark 4-cylinder, to 3.2 liters Pentastar V6.

Jeep has yet to reveal an official launch date, but it is estimated that the production of the latest generation Cherokee will begin in October and will launch as a model in 2026.

Apart from Cherokee, Jeep is also preparing the latest generation Compass which will come with a design update and a more varied machine choice. Production is scheduled to start at the end of this year.
