Bridge Project Corruption Session, Ex-Cawabup Purbalingga And 2 PUPR Service Official Officials Present

JATENG - The defendant former Deputy Regent Candidate (Wabup) Purbalingga Zaini Makarim Supriyatno underwent his first trial in the alleged corruption case in the construction of the Gintung Purbalingga River Red Bridge. This case cost the state Rp13.2 billion.

The trial was also attended by two other defendants, namely two former heads of the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Setiyadi and Priyo Satmoko.

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Purbalingga District Attorney (Kejari), Bagus Suteja, said that this alleged corruption occurred during the construction of bridges with steel construction in 2017 and 2018.

In its implementation, according to him, there are several work that are not technically fulfilled based on the results of the audit.

Based on the results of the audit, the construction of the bridge project has been paid even though the work has not been carried out 100 percent.

Meanwhile, based on the results of the inspection, it was stated by the Bridge Safety and Road Tunnel Commission (KKJTJ) that the bridge could only be passed by small vehicles.

The defendant Zaiki Makarim acted as a consultant in the supervisory in the project.

"The work is not in accordance with the specifications of the work contract so that small vehicles can only be passed. As a result, the public interest is not served," he said during a trial led by Chief Judge Siti Insirah which took place at the Semarang Corruption Court, Monday, March 17, which was confiscated by Antara.

The suspect's actions were charged with Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001.

Against the indictment, the defendant Zaini Makarim will submit an exception in the upcoming trial.
