Committee Meeting For The TNI Bill To Discuss Three Main Clusters
JAKARTA - The Working Committee for the Draft Law on the Indonesian National Armed Forces or the TNI Bill discussed three main clusters at the Working Committee meeting of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) and the government in Jakarta, Saturday.
Chairman of the Working Committee (Panja) of the TNI Bill and Chairman of Commission I of the DPR, Utut Adianto, explained that the three clusters, namely the position of the Ministry of Defense and the TNI, the new scope of where the TNI can remain active, and about the age of soldiers.
"Those three are all, nothing else," said Utut when met on the sidelines of the meeting.
Utut said that all clusters in the TNI Bill were discussed one by one, article by article carefully. However, he could not say how far the discussion had gone.
One of the things that are still being discussed more deeply is the matter of military operations other than the war, which is planned to be added to 17.

"One by one we examine. What I make sure is that people like me are responsible for this," he said.
Regarding the target for the ratification of the TNI Bill, Utut said he did not have his own targets, but was waiting for the readiness of the government, especially the Minister of Defense, Minister of Law, Minister of Finance, and Minister of State Secretary.
According to him, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin had hoped that the TNI Bill could be ratified during this trial period.
"If the government is ready, yes we are ready, we have a work meeting. It doesn't mean that we are pursuing the target, the important thing is that it has been discussed as well as possible," he said.
The TNI Bill Working Meeting took place from Friday (14/3) and was planned for Sunday (16/3).
Previously, the DPR RI Plenary Meeting on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, approved the Draft Law on Amendments to Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the Indonesian National Army (TNI) to be included in the 2025 Priority National Legislation Program (Prolegnas).
The discussion of the TNI Bill proposed to be included in the 2025 Priority Prolegnas is based on the Presidential Letter of the Republic of Indonesia Number R12/Pres/02/2025 dated February 13, 2025. That way, the bill becomes an initiative proposal from the government.
