DHF Cases Increase, Bima Health Office Reminds Waspda Residents

The Health Office of Bima City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) reminded residents to be aware of the threat of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) because there was an increase in cases reaching 92 cases in the local area, with one victim dying.

"This figure has experienced a drastic increase compared to 2024 which only recorded 30 cases throughout the year," said Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P3PL) of the Bima City Health Office, Fitriani Mahfud, as reported by ANTARA.

The high number of dengue cases, his party reminded the public to increase vigilance and take preventive measures.

"DHF can cause death if it is not handled quickly and appropriately. This year, the number of cases has increased significantly, and we urge all people to be more active in prevention efforts," he said.

He explained that dengue is an infectious disease caused by the dengue virus and is transmitted through the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.

The symptoms that need to be watched out for include sudden high fever with no clear cause. Great headache. Pain behind the eyes. Muscle and joint pain. There are red spots on the skin. Mild bleeding like a bloody gum.

"If there are family members who experience these symptoms, the public is advised to immediately take patients to the nearest health facility, such as hospitals, health centers, or clinics," explained Fitriani.

The Health Office reminded that success in reducing the number of dengue cases really depends on the active role of the community. Prevention efforts must be carried out together so that there is no more severe increase in cases.

"It's better to prevent than to treat. Let's work together to maintain the cleanliness of the environment in order to avoid the threat of dengue fever," he said.

He hopes that the increase in cases at the beginning of this year, the people of Bima City are more alert in preventing the spread of dengue for the sake of mutual safety.
