Meta Ready To Trial Community Records On Facebook, Instagram, And Threads

JAKARTA Meta announced that it will start testing Community Records features on its three social media, namely Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. This test will take place on March 18.

Contributors listed on each platform's Community Records will be allowed to write and assess notes on various content. Even though it's permitted, Meta says that records won't appear in content.

That way, Community Records cannot be seen by ordinary users. For now, a trial of the new Community Records feature is open in the US. Although only available in one country, the number of contributors is quite large, reaching 200,000 people.

"We will start gradually and randomly accepting people from the waiting list, and will take the time to test the writing and assessment system before any records are made public," Meta said in a statement, quoted on Saturday, March 15.

In fact, fact-checkers from third parties are still available across countries even though Meta wants to replace them. This third-party fact-check is still being used because Community Records have not been officially launched across countries, even in the US.

"After Notes begin to appear in public, there will be no new fact-checking label from third-party fact-checkers appearing in the United States," explains Meta.

Keep in mind that this new feature approach is carried out in stages. When Community Records are available across the US, the company will continue to use third-party fact checks in other countries.

When Community Records are confirmed to work with the right approach across the country, the company will only remove fact checking programs. It is not certain when this change will occur.
