The Tradition Of The Nine Century Mukabele Ramadan Continues At This Mosque

JAKARTA - The Mukabele tradition, which has lasted for nine centuries, continues to be maintained until now at the Selahaddin Eyyubi (Saahuddin Ayyubi or Saladin) Mosque located in Silvan District, Diyarbak totaling, Turkey.

During the month of Ramadan, after the Zuhur and Ashar prayers, those who followed the face-to-face at the mosque showed interest in the traditions based on the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, according to the inscription at the entrance of the mosque, which was built in 1185.

The congregation follows the reading of the Koran by religious officials, and those who do not know the reading of the verses read.

Mufti Silvan Murat Demir district said the mosque was packed with prayers for all five times, with larger crowds attending prayers in the afternoon and evening.

"This mosque has a history of almost a thousand years. Some sources say this mosque was built in 1031, while others say this mosque was built during the Artuqid period, with records from 1152. Then, during the Ayyubiyah period, Selamaddin Eyyubi renovated the mosque, which is why this mosque bears its name," he explained, emphasizing that it was an important site, quoted from Daily Sabah and IHA March 13.

"Since then, our Tarawih prayers and face-to-face continue. We continue the legacy left by our ancestors. We do the face-to-face twice a day during Ramadan, once after the midday prayer and once again after the Asr prayer, and we will continue, God willing," he said.

Meanwhile, shopkeeper Mustafa Demirer, who learned about the mosque from his elders and ancestors, said: "The mosque has been opened to worship for more than 850 to 1,000 years. We continue to perform prayers, face-to-face during Ramadan, Tarawih prayers and our religious obligations during other holy days here. We hope that the younger generation, like us, learn from the elders and continue the tradition of reading the face-to-face at this mosque."

Another resident named Ebubekir Genel said, "Reading and understanding the Koran is important, and what I mean is to practice his orders. I have participated in the Kakabele tradition at this mosque for years. I invite everyone and Silvan residents to join the precavious traditions carried out in this mosque."

"In times when Palestine faces massacres and Jerusalem is surrounded, it is meaningful to reflect on it at a mosque bearing the name Selamaddin Eyyubi, the Conqueror of Jerusalem, which gives us more inspiration," he added.
