The AGO's Response To The Reporting Of Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah To The KPK Is Considered Arrogant
The Head of the Attorney General's Office, Harli Siregar, is considered arrogant. How to respond to reports of allegations of corruption by the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as if refusing to cooperate with other institutions.
Harli's response to the question was 'one member of the prosecutor's office or adhyaksa who was treated unfairly, the same as facing the Attorney General's office'.
"This statement seems to refuse to cooperate with law enforcers (KPK) who should also carry out their duties and functions," said Director of Democracy Justice Reform (De Jure), Bhatara Ibnu Reza to reporters, Friday, March 14.
This statement is also considered inconsistent with the spirit of President Prabowo Subianto who intends to fight corruption. The Adhyaksa Corps should submit a follow-up to Febrie's report to the KPK.
"The statement from the prosecutor's element regarding the incident that occurred to one of its members illustrates an unwise attitude, in the form of institutional arrogance that should not be shown to the public," said the former Commissioner of the Prosecutor's Office for the 2019-2023 period.
"There is room where the legal process must run, law enforcers both respect the ongoing process. As well as providing the best example to the public about how the law should be enforced," continued Bhatara.
Furthermore, Harli's statement which is considered to show arrogance should be a sign of the revision of the Prosecutor's Law (RUU) should be reviewed. Moreover, there is a tendency to increase excessive authority.
Instead of increasing authority, Bhatara said, the government and the Indonesian House of Representatives should strengthen the mechanism for internal and external supervision. "So that potential violations of ethics or suspected criminal acts do not happen again," he said.
