Ship Fire In Lamongan That Killed 2 People Due To Engine Short Circuit
LaMONGAN - Lamongan Police Chief AKBP Bobby A. Condroputra revealed that the cause of the fire incident involving two ships, namely TugboatRoselyne 08 and the barge tanker MT Ronggolawe, was due to a short circuit in the engine.
"MT Ronggolawe's tanker, which was prepared to lean, suddenly the engine was short and exploded about four times. So that it triggered a fire, then grabbed the nearby Roselyne 08 tugboat," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 13.
He explained that the Roselyne 08 ship carried 10 crew members (ABK) and of these, nine people survived and the other is still being searched.
Meanwhile, of the 11 crew members on the MT Ronggolawe ship, as many as two serious burns, two people died, one has not been found, and six others are undergoing treatment at dr. Suyudi Hospital in Paciran District, Lamongan.
"Currently, the evacuation and extinguishing process is still ongoing involving a joint team from Polairud Polda East Java and Lamongan, as well as assisted by the evacuation team from the Security Response of PT Lamongan Integrated Shorebase (LIS)," he said.

Based on the video received, it is known that the tanker MT Ronggolawe was transporting fuel oil (BBM) and coal which was pulled by the Roselyne 08 tugboat to the dock.
"We are sorry for this incident. Hopefully, the families of the victims who were left behind will be given courage, and the survivors and those who suffered injuries will recover soon," he added.
