Mendikdasmen Teken Pipis Academic Matajak Coding-AI

JAKARTA - Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti confirmed that his party had officially released an academic paper regarding the implementation of coding and Artificial Intelligence (AI) subjects.

"So the academic paper circulating that has my signature is officially the basis for us to make decisions," said Minister of Education and Culture Mu'ti as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 13.

After being paraded, he continued, his party is now waiting for the harmonization of ministerial regulations from the Ministry of Law.

He explained that the legal harmonization process itself is a process of aligning the laws and regulations that are being drafted or those that already exist.

"It's all over, I'm initial, just waiting for the harmonization of ministerial regulations from the ministry of law," added Mu'ti.

Nevertheless, he emphasized that coding and AI will certainly run in the 2026/2027 school year as subjects of choice, not mandatory.

Both of these subjects will be held at schools that are ready to implement them.

"We plan to implement the new school year, but it's not mandatory for choices," said Mu'ti

The academic coding and AI papers circulating in the public were uploaded through the Ministry of Education's National Curriculum Information System page.

In it, the manuscript describes the basis for learning, the concept of coding and AI, material coverage, learning duration, to the qualifications and competence of the supervisory teacher.

The coverage of coding material that will be received by elementary/MI students, includes producing solutions to daily problems in a structured manner using auxiliary tools such as flat blocks or drawing pieces, compiling systematic and logical steps with limited vocabulary or symbols from experience (simple commands/basic algorithms), carrying out a simple sequence of conditional instructions (rows-lines or using block-based programs with branching logic and repetition), to understanding technology dystopia.

Meanwhile, the coverage of AI material that will be received by elementary / mI students includes understanding the impact of artificial intelligence in daily life, using AI by holding ethics, distinguishing between AI and non-AI technology, to understanding the basic concepts of input-process-output

Meanwhile, for the duration of coding and AI learning at each level, the manuscript states that for SD/MI levels for 2 hours of lessons per week, for SMP/MTs levels for 2 hours of lessons per week, for MA/MA/SMK/MAK Class 10 levels for 2 hours of lessons per week, for SMA/MA/SMK Class 11 and 12 levels for 4 hours of lessons per week.
