Pramono Opens Discourse On Cat Island In Thousand Islands

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung opened the discourse to establish a cat island in the Thousand Islands. According to Pramono, Jakarta can present a cat island like in Japan.

Japan has a number of islands that are mostly inhabited by cats. One of them is Aoshima Island.

"The cat island in Japan has become an extraordinary tourist destination. Everyone wants to come, because the Cat Lover community is really big, including in Jakarta," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, March 13.

Pramono views that if one of the islands in the Thousand Islands is used as a place for the cat population, it can also increase regional income in terms of tourism. However, Pramono does not know when the plan to establish a cat island will be realized.

"If we can make it happen later, then it can also be a revenue for Pulau Seribu, for people to come and then enjoy cat tourism," explained Pramono.

Meanwhile, one of the representatives of the Cat Lovers community, Sonny Kastara Dhaniswara, revealed that the cat island is a dream of the four-legged animal lovers.

"We can have a place to, not a cat disposal site, right, instead for a place to improve the welfare of cats. We have dreams, dreams and ambitions where there is an island in Indonesia, in Jakarta in the Thousand Islands maybe to be precise," said Sonny.

The cat island, according to Sonny, could be a rehabilitation center and a cat hospital.

In fact, this cat island is expected to attract foreign nationals to come to Indonesia, especially the Thousand Islands, in order to treat their pet cats.

"We already have the draft and hopefully I believe with the support of the Governor we can realize it," he explained.
