Affected By Budget Efficiency, MA Still Wants To Build Flats For Judges' Residence

JAKARTA - Secretary of the Supreme Court (MA) Sugiyanto said his institution plans to build flats for judges' residences.

"To ensure the fulfillment of the rights to state houses, and security guarantees, the Supreme Court has also planned flat construction, a residence for judges," said Sugiyanto at the House of Representatives Commission III Hearing Meeting at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, March 13, which was confiscated by Antara.

In addition, he said, the judges were confirmed to receive assistance in renting the judge's official residence, and transportation allowances.

He explained that this had been regulated in the Decree of the Secretary of the Supreme Court Number 853/Sek/SK.KP5/III/2025 concerning the Cost of Renting Office Houses and Transportation for Judges and Ad Hoc Judges within the Supreme Court and the Judiciary Agency under it, which was set in Jakarta, Monday, March 10.

Meanwhile, he emphasized that the Supreme Court is also committed to fulfilling financial rights and facilities for judges.

He explained that the commitment was in accordance with Government Regulation Number 44 of 2024 concerning the Third Amendment to Government Regulation Number 94 of 2012 concerning Financial Rights and Facilities of Judges Under the Supreme Court.

"The Supreme Court has also updated the form of health insurance for judges both in the First Court and the Appeal Court through the Decree of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Number 184 of 2023 concerning Guidelines for Providing Health Insurance for Judges in the Four Environments of Justices that Are Under it," he said.

Previously, Sugiyanto explained that the total budget for the 2025 Supreme Court which was affected by budget efficiency was IDR 2,288,100,000,000, out of the total 2025 Supreme Court budget allocation ceiling of IDR 12,684,119,652,000.

"The details of the Supreme Court's budget for Fiscal Year 2025 as of February 11, 2025 have realized a budget of Rp. 1,462,060,218,817 or around 11.53 percent of the budget ceiling allocation, while the remaining budget of 88.47 percent or Rp. 11,222,059,433,183 is still in progress," he said at the DPR RI Commission III work at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 12.

As for the total 2025 MA budget that was blocked amounting to Rp2,288,100,000,000, he detailed that the amount consisted of blocking supporting data of Rp. 104,150,170,000, blocking efficiency of Rp. 1,930,466,795,000, to blocking official travel of Rp. 253,483,035,000.

Regarding the blocking of official travel, he said that this had a profound impact on the Supreme Court. Among other things, the judge's transportation assistance is only enough for up to six months; and the absence of official trips abroad.
