A Concise On The Name Of The Latest Electric Power Pickup From Toyota

JAKARTA - Electric pickup trucks are increasingly in demand because they combine practicality and resilience and of course without having to issue emissions. Some brands are already playing in the segment, and Toyota doesn't seem to want to miss the carriage.

Quoting from the Carscoops page, Thursday, March 12, Toyota teased fans with electric-powered pickup trucks on silhouettes shared on Toyota events in Belgium, while introducing their newest SUV.

Apparently, this new model doesn't look like the electric Hilux being developed for the Thai and Australian markets.

From the silhouettes shared, the pickup has a dual cabin design, unlike the single cabin electric Hilux displayed in Thailand last year. The double cabin Hilux prototype tested by Toyota with the BHP mining giant in Australia doesn't look like that either.

One possibility is that the new electric pickup being developed by Toyota could be Tacoma EV which is ready for production, inspired by a concept that was raised to the public at the end of 2021.

However, given that the name Tacoma is not used on European soil, the name may show a production version of the EPU Concept starting in 2023, a compact electric pickup that appears to be entering the market in 2027 in key markets like South America.

Speaking of the silhouette presented, European Toyota Motor President Yoshihiro Nakata, said the model was part of the EV strategy.

"It will focus on increasing the customer lifestyle as strong as increasing our carbon neutrality goals," he said.

Given that there are no detailed specifications related to the electric pickup, it is expected to be based on one of the existing brand platforms and will likely be offered with the same upgraded electric motor as found in the updated bZ4X and new C-HR+.
