PDIP Calls The KPK Indictment To Hasto Only Copy Paste From The Old Indictment

JAKARTA - Member of the legal team of the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto, Maqdir Ismail, assessed that most of the corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) charges against Hasto were no different from the previous trial.

Maqdir assessed that almost all of the indictment material was only a copy of the two previous charges against Wahyu Setiawan and Agustiani Tio F, who were convicted of an interim replacement bribery (PAW) case for members of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the PDIP faction, as well as the indictment against Saeful Bahri.

"Of the 27 pages of the indictment, only 1 page is really new, namely the accusation against Hasto Kristiyanto who ordered Kusnadi to drown his cellphone," said Maqdir at the PDIP DPP office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, March 12.

Moreover, Maqdir claimed that the KPK's accusations regarding Hasto ordering the sinking of cellphones so that Harun Masiku's fugitive could not be tracked were not based on evidence.

"The indictment is inconsistent because the KPK has actually confiscated the cellphone held by Kusnadi. If it has been sunk, of course, the cellphone does not exist and is not carried by Kusnadi," said Maqdir.

Maqdir also emphasized that the two charges were inkracht and that the court's decision had permanent legal force.

"So, the KPK's attempt to continue to impose accusations against Hasto Kristiyanto is an obsessive act without being based on law, deviating and violating 2 court decisions that have permanent legal force," he stressed.

On Friday, March 14, 2025, the prosecutor will read out the indictment in the courtroom of Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Hatta, the Corruption Court at the Jakarta District Court (PN) at 09.00 WIB.

PDIP has prepared 17 lawyers or attorneys to accompany Hasto in the inaugural trial of alleged interim replacement bribery (PAW) for members of the DPR and the obstruction of investigation.

Hasto Kristiyanto was previously named a suspect by the KPK in the case of alleged interim replacement bribery (PAW) that ensnared former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his fugitive, Harun Masiku. He was charged with Donny Tri Istiqomah who is a PDIP cadre as well as a lawyer.

Then, Hasto was also named a suspect in the alleged obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of obstructing the legal process, one of which is because he asked Harun to damage his cellphone and run away after the KPK's arrest operation (OTT) was carried out in 2020.
