In a post on Instagram, Vucic, which repeatedly supports the current US administration policy, said he and Trump Jr discussed relations between Serbia and the United States.

"I emphasize the importance of economic and political relations between Serbia and the US as well as the importance of strategic cooperation between the two countries and joint projects in the coming years," Vucic said.

The visit comes as Serbia tries to balance efforts to seek support from the United States and other Western countries to join the EU in its relations with Russia, its historical allies, and China, key investors in infrastructure, mining, and energy.

The visit follows a year-old agreement between the Serbian government and US-backed investment firm Jared Kushner, Affinity Global Development, to build a hotel at the site of the former headquarters of thendetak People's Army during the 1999 NATO bombing campaign against the former statuso.

Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and his senior assistant during his first term, founded the investment company after leaving his role at the White House in 2021.
