Poland Arrests Ukrainian Woman Selling 56 Kidneys

Polish border guards have detained a Ukrainian woman who was sentenced to 12 years in prison in Kazakhstan for being involved in an organized criminal group that trades human organs and sells 56 kidneys.

A 35-year-old woman named Ksenia P is being held at a railroad crossing between Poland and Ukraine based on Interpol's red notice, said Marta Petkowska, a spokesman for the prosecutor's office in Przemysl.

The prosecutor did not say why the woman was not in prison in Kazakhstan when she was arrested at the intersection.

"He has been wanted by Interpol since November 2020," said the prosecutor.

Interpol's red notice is a request to global law enforcement to temporarily detain someone pending extradition or similar legal action.

The woman was convicted of involvement in an international organized criminal group that illegally collects networks and organs from people from 2017 to 2019 and sells them on the black market.

He was also convicted of illegally obtaining the kidneys of 56 injured in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Thailand for financial gain.

The woman is said to have made the crime committed as a source of permanent income.

Prosecutors filed a motion to the court to apply for a temporary detention for one week so that he could be extradited to Kazakhstan.
