Semarang Zoo Has A New Animal Collection For Eid 2025 Holidays

JAKARTA - Semarang Zoo further enriches its animal collection ahead of the Lebaran 2025 holiday by bringing in new species. The presence of these additional animals is expected to provide a more attractive experience for visitors during the holiday period.

Director of PT Taman Animal Semarang (Semarang Zoo), Bimo Wahyu Widodo, revealed that the addition of these animals was the result of a grant from PT Mbarep Abyasa Line. This step was taken as part of preparations for the surge in tourists which is predicted to increase during Eid.

According to Bimo, activities at Semarang Zoo during this year's Eid holiday will run as usual, but with the addition of an animal collection, visitors can enjoy something new. In addition, a number of public facilities are also repaired to increase the comfort of visitors.

"We are trying to add a collection of animals to welcome the Lebaran holiday. Several new animals will come from the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA), the Ragunan Zoo, and Jember. In addition, we also receive animal assistance from various parties," he said.

The symbolic handover of the animal grant from PT Mbarep Abyasa Line was carried out on Monday (10/3/2025). The collection of new animals includes four kate chickens, two pairs of ornamental pigeons, seven rabbits, a pair of polard chickens, and three belibis.

In addition to these grants, Semarang Zoo will also receive additional animals from fellow conservation agencies, including Sititunga, Capibara, and complicated birds. In addition, there will be an exchange of male orangutans with females in the context of a conservation program.

"Hopefully, these new animals can arrive before Lebaran so that visitors can enjoy the experience of seeing the latest collections while traveling to Semarang Zoo," he added.

Not only adding to the collection of animals, Semarang Zoo also collaborates with various parties to welcome the Eid al-Fitr 1446 H holiday. Four institutions have signed a memorandum of understanding to support tourism management at the zoo.

This collaboration includes the implementation of outdoor game rides with Abigame, non-organic waste management by PT Enviro Hijau Investama, as well as the development of brand images that support animal and environmental sustainability.

In addition, Dompet Dhuafa plays a role in providing occupational safety and health education (K3), installing disaster response signs, education for orphans and the social community, as well as distributing basic food assistance for street vendors (PKL) in the Semarang Zoo area. Not only that, Dompet Dhuafa also distributed animal feed donations amounting to Rp25 million.

A similar donation was also given by PT Tirta Fresindo Jaya through the corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, which also contributed animal feed with the same value.

Meanwhile, the Director of PT Mbarep Abyasa, Solichul Adam, expressed his support for tourism development in Semarang City, especially through animal grants to increase the attractiveness of Semarang Zoo.

"As a company engaged in the tourism sector, we want to contribute to developing tourism potential in Semarang City. Especially with a new policy from the Mayor which again allows study tours, this is a breath of fresh air for the tourism sector," he explained.

With various additional animal collections and improved facilities, Semarang Zoo is ready to be a favorite destination for families who want to enjoy the Eid holiday in Semarang City.
