President Zelensky Says Ukraine Will Be Constructive In Talks With The United States
JAKARTA - Ukraine will take a constructive stance and expect practical results from negotiations to end the war with Russia while in talks with the United States on Tuesday, President Volodymyr Zelensky tweeted, focusing on security guarantees.
President Zelensky arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Monday. He then met with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at the Al-Salam Palace.
In his post, President Zelensky thanked the Crown Prince for his support for Ukraine.
"We discussed all the main issues in the agenda, both bilateral issues and cooperation with other partners," he tweeted as quoted on March 11.
"I appreciate the Crown Prince's efforts in realizing true peace. Saudi Arabia provides an important platform for diplomacy, and we appreciate this," he continued.
President Zelensky also wrote that the Ukrainian delegation remained in Jeddah to work with the US team on Tuesday "and we hope there will be practical results."
"Ukraine's position in this talk will be fully constructive dialogue," he wrote.

President Zelensky said he and Prince MBS discussed in detail the steps and conditions needed to end the war and secure reliable and lasting peace.
"I specifically emphasize the issue of the release of prisoners and repatriation of our children, which could be a key step in building trust in diplomatic efforts. An important part of the discussion is dedicated to security guarantee formats," President Zelensky wrote.
"We appreciate Saudi Arabia's readiness to expand economic cooperation and invest in Ukraine," he added, citing major investment sectors, such as security, energy and infrastructure.
"In turn, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia affirms the Kingdom's commitment to support all international efforts aimed at resolving the crisis and achieving peace," the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Saudi Arabia has played a mediation role since the Russian invasion, including brokering a prisoner swap and hosting talks last month between Moscow and Washington.
Talks between US and Ukrainian officials today are the first official session since Zelensky's failed White House meeting. Trump's Central East envoy Steve Witkoff said he had high hopes.
President Zelensky said he would not attend Tuesday's talks with US officials. The Ukrainian delegation will include its chief staff, foreign ministers, defense ministers, and a top military official in the presidential government.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was also in Jeddah and met the Crown Prince. He is planned to attend the meeting.
US officials said they planned to use the meeting in part to determine whether Kyiv was willing to make material concessions to Russia to end the war.
"We want to see if Ukraine is interested not only in peace, but also in realistic peace," an official said.
