Mikel Arteta: Arsenal's Chance Of Achieving The Premier League Title Is Not Over
JAKARTA - Mikel Arteta refused to admit defeat in the Premier League title after Arsenal trailed 15 points from Liverpool after a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Declan Rice's goal in the 74th minute equalized Bruno Fernandes' opener on Sunday, March 9, 2025. Both teams were unable to score the winning goal in the fierce match.
Arsenal still have one game more than Liverpool, but are now facing a tough task in their bid to secure their first league title since 2004.
When asked if the title race had ended, Arteta immediately denied it.
"I don't want to say that. Today, the frustration is that we haven't won the game yet."
"We know the urgency and we are obliged to win every game if we are to have a chance to do so (League champions)."
"I don't think this is the right time to talk about it," said Mikel Arteta.

Arteta's optimism that Arsenal are still in the league title fight is also agreed by Declan Rice.
The midfielder confirmed the Gunners promised to continue fighting until the last day.
"As the manager said, we will continue to advance until the end of the season. Liverpool have performed amazingly throughout the year."
"We are Arsenal. We have been hit by severe injuries. We will continue to advance and we will be fine," said the England midfielder.
Arteta's frustration was evident when he left his press conference obligations after the match with Sky Sports early after a question about the title race.
After answering several questions, Arteta was then asked whether he was sorry or not Arsenal failed to sign a striker in January 2025.
"No, it's not about that," he said before walking away.
The interviewer then asked one more question, which Arteta answered. However, when asked about the difference of 15 points with Liverpool, Arteta did not answer.
