Adila Sutjiadi Returns In Second Round Of Indian Wells 2025

JAKARTA The journey of tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi at Indian Wells 2025 ran aground in the second half. He and his partner in the women's doubles, Fanny Stollar, lost to the Slovak-England pair, Tereza Mihalikova/Olivia Nicholls, with a score of 1-6, 6-4, and 2-10, on Monday, March 10, 2025.

In this duel, Aldila/Fanny had difficulty finding their rhythm and made many mistakes in the first set. Their appearance lost impressively like the first round of this WTA 1000 level event.

They were then able to get up and show more solid performance in the second set. At this moment they managed to score a break point and locked the win to force the game to continue into a super tie-break.

Unfortunately, Fanny had to undergo medical treatment due to problems with her waist before the third set started. This condition seems to have an impact on his game and the opponent manages to take advantage of the situation by appearing aggressive so that it excels from the start.

"We have struggled our best, especially in the second set when we were able to rise. Unfortunately, several factors in the third set made us lose momentum," Aldila said in a statement received.

Aldila will then prepare for the Miami Open 2025. At the event, Aldila will partner with Nadia Kichenok from Ukraine, who is currently ranked 40th in double WTA.

To prepare for the tournament in Miami, Aldila plans to undergo an intensive training session with coach Carlos Drada, who was her coach while studying at the University of Kentucky.

"In the future, I want to focus more on the speed of service and the placement of the ball so that it can be better in the next tournament," said Aldila.

Indian Wells is Aldila's second tournament on this year's calendar or after he was sidelined due to health problems at the end of last year. Prior to Indian Wells, the 2018 Asian Games gold medalist appeared at ITF W35 Arcade, California, United States.

At the event, Aldila collaborated with compatriot Janice Tjen. Their journey managed to enter the final round, but failed to climb the highest podium after losing to the host pair Victoria Osuigwe/Alana Smith.
