Observer: Prabowo's Meeting With Conglomerates Meets Openness Principles
Political communication observer from Esa Unggul University, Jamiluddin Ritonga, assessed that President Prabowo Subianto's meeting with the country's leading conglomerate deserves appreciation for fulfilling the principle of openness.
This is different from what Joko Widodo did when he became president. Jokowi, according to him, tends to hold meetings with big entrepreneurs behind closed doors. As a result, negative speculation emerged against Jokowi's relationship with conglomerates.
"The public considers Jokowi's relationship with conglomerates to be more dominant in personal interests, both politics and the economy. Unlike the Prabowo meeting and conglomerates at the Palace, it is considered more for the benefit of the community, nation and state," said Jamiluddin, Saturday, March 8.
At least, continued Jamiluddin, the meeting could be assessed to improve the economy and labor in the country. So, he said, some people considered the meeting of Prabowo and the conglomerates to be more positive.
"Prabowo held the meeting inviting the conglomerate to jointly build the nation and state," he said.

Even so, Jamiluddin hopes that Prabowo's meeting with conglomerates will not build up law enforcement efforts in the country. Moreover, Prabowo has repeatedly emphasized that he will eradicate corruptors to their roots.
For example, the case of the sea fence in Tangerang. Jamiluddin hopes that the law enforcement on the case will continue even though the boss of the Sedayu Group, Aguan, is present at the meeting. Likewise, other legal cases involving entrepreneurs, including conglomerates.
"So, the disclosure of the case of the sea fence should not only stop at the village head. Prabowo through law enforcement must process all parties involved in sea fencing in Tangerang," he said.
In addition, Jamiluddin added, Prabowo also needs to be aware of conglomerates. Because according to him, entrepreneurs will not just be invited to cooperate if they do not get the benefits.
"Therefore, entrepreneurs will ask for a win win solution. This is what Prabowo needs to pay attention to so that he does not enter the trap of entrepreneurs," he said.
Therefore, Jamiluddin assessed that Prabowo's openness to the conglomerates deserves appreciation. However, he reminded, Prabowo should not back down in handling legal cases involving conglomerates.
"That way, Prabowo's meeting with conglomerates can really help with economic management and increase labor in the country," he concluded.
It is known that President Prabowo Subianto gathered businessmen at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Friday, March 7. Among them are CT Corp Founder Chairul Tanjung and Sedayu Group boss Sugianto Kusuma or Aguan.
