Symbols Of Tolerance And Diversity, Minister Of Religion Reveals ASG Plans To Build An Islamic Center At PIK

Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar revealed Agung Sedayu Group's grand plan to build an Islamic Center in the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area. This development is projected to be a symbol of tolerance and diversity in the region.

Nasaruddin made this statement when inaugurating the process of installing the Al Ikhlas Mosque stakepole, at Simpang Empat - Gate 5 Riverwalk Island, PIK.

According to the Minister of Religion, Al Ikhlas is not the only mosque to be built in the PIK area. It is also planned to build the Asadiyah PIK Grand Mosque with a capacity of 5,000 pilgrims.

"This (Al-Ikhlas PIK) mosque is the fourth mosque built in the PIK area. Later we will build another bigger Grand Mosque, which can accommodate up to 5 thousand worshipers. We will name the Great Mosque of Asadiyah PIK," said Nasaruddin, Friday, March 8.

Later, continued the Minister of Religion, this mosque will be designed as an Islamic Center or education center, as well as the development of Muslim skills

"God willing, with this mosque, the PIK area will continue to develop into the center of religious life and civilization," said Nasaruddin.

Meanwhile, the President Director of Agung Sedayu Group, Nono Sampono, revealed that the construction of the Mosque and Islamic Center is part of the concept of multi-diversity areas that present four houses of worship (mosques, churches, monasteries, and temples) as symbols of tolerance and harmony in religious life.

Regarding the construction of the Al Ikhlas Mosque which is currently being worked on, Nono said, if the mosque would stand on land of around 2,435 meters-square. The construction is estimated to cost Rp45 billion.

Nono said, this mosque carries the concept of an Islamic Classical Architecture, combining classical and modern elements. The exterior is in the form of a box with a row of magnificent pillars, reflecting a strong impression, while the interior is circular, creating a spiritual atmosphere that is peaceful and comfortable.

In addition to the main prayer room, this mosque will also be equipped with outside hallways, green parks, and separate vehicle access to increase the comfort of the congregation. With a capacity of approximately 600 people, the Al-Ikhlas PIK Mosque is targeted for completion by the end of 2025.

Nono said that this Muslim house of worship was built to meet the needs of Muslim communities who live and are active in the PIK 1 and PIK 2 areas, which continue to grow rapidly.

Along with the growth in population and activity in the PIK area, said Nono, the presence of mosques in PIK is still not enough to meet the needs of community worship.

"With these conditions, we view the need to rebuild a mosque that is larger in size, so that it can accommodate the needs of the community," he concluded.

With the start of the construction of the Al-Ikhlas PIK Riverwalk Island Mosque, Agung Sedayu Group emphasized its commitment to creating areas that are not only modern and advanced in infrastructure, but also uphold the values of diversity, tolerance, and spirituality for a more harmonious life.

On the same occasion, Agung Sedayu Group also distributed 1,000 food packages to orphans, cleaners, and workers around the PIK1 and PIK2 areas.
