High Rainfall Since Friday, 1,174 Residents' Houses In Muara Enim Affected By Floods
The flood disaster with a water inundation height of up to one meter occurred in 1,174 houses in Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra (Sumsel).
Head of the Muara Enim Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Abdurrozieq Putra in Muara Enim, Saturday, said that high rainfall on Friday (7/3/2025) at around 12.30 WIB caused the impact of the flood disaster to inundate thousands of houses in the local area.
1,174 houses in two villages, namely Padang Bindu Village and Pagar Jati Village, Benakat District, Muara Enim Regency, were flooded with water levels of between 30 centimeters and one meter.
Although there were no casualties, as a result of natural disasters, community activities were disrupted because the roads in the two villages were also flooded with water as high as adult knees.
"Residents have difficulty doing activities because apart from their homes, roads are flooded," he said, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, March 8.

Regarding the disaster, his party moved quickly by deploying personnel to the flood site as an emergency response to natural disasters.
At least two rubber boats belonging to the Muara Enim BPBD and two rubber boats from the Fire Department (Damkar) in the local area were dispatched to the flood site to evacuate the victims.
Residents affected by natural disasters are assisted in their activities outside the village, such as going to markets and schools, using the alerted rubber boats.
"Based on reports until this morning, the floods in the two villages have gradually receded and community activities are back to normal," he said.
Even though the flood has receded, he said, the public is asked to continue to increase their vigilance to deal with potential aftershocks to anticipate casualties.
"The public must continue to increase their vigilance because natural disasters can occur at any time," he said.
