UI Decides Bahlil's Dissertation Needs To Be Revised

JAKARTA - The University of Indonesia (UI) has decided that the dissertation of the doctoral program for the Strategic and Global Study School (SKSG) Bahlil Lahadalia needs improvement.

"Regarding the students concerned, as stated by the Chancellor of UI Heri Hermansyah, it is requested to improve the dissertation in accordance with the provisions and substance side that will be determined by the Chancellor and Pak Bahlil," said Director of Public Relations, Media, Government, and International UI Arie Afriansyah quoting between.

Arie emphasized that the current UI has not yet decided whether repairs to the dissertation need to be made in whole or in part.

"So the improvement will be like the work of quality knowledge, which in general, will later be determined by the promoters and co-promotors, and it will depend on the substance, because scientific works cannot become public consumption, and what the size and substance of the quality will be determined according to the discussion with the leaders," he said.

He also stated that individual decrees (SK) had also been given to parties involved in the Bahlil dissertation case, namely promoters, co-promotors, directors, heads of study programs, and related students.

"The decree is individual and will be submitted to each party concerned, and as stated by the Chancellor, it will be different from one another -sanctions -," he said.

As part of coaching, if the student concerned has data that still needs to be refined or repaired, then UI will ask for improvement until the dissertation is declared feasible.

Meanwhile, UI Chancellor Heri Hermansyah stated that his party decided to provide guidance to the parties involved with the Bahlil Lahadalia dissertation case.

"At the meeting in the four UI organs, then decided to provide guidance to promoters, co-promotors, directors, heads of study programs, as well as related students, in accordance with the level of academic and ethical violations that were carried out proportionally," said Heri.

By paying attention to academic wisdom, the spirit of improving institutions, and maintaining academic integrity, continued Heri, the guidance was carried out starting from delaying promotions for a certain period of time, requests for apologies to academic community, as well as improving the quality of dissertation and scientific publications.

He emphasized that UI as a higher education institution that upholds academy integrity has a moral and ethical obligation to maintain the academic standards that have been built together.
