Starship Flying Test Fails, Rocket Rolls Over And Explodes In The Sky

JAKARTA SpaceX again held a Starship flight test on Friday, February 7 at around 6.34 WIB. Unfortunately, the eighth Starship flight test also ended in an explosion, exactly as before.

Initially, the Starship launcher seemed to run smoothly. SpaceX managed to push the giant rocket in Starbase, South Texas to a height of 123 meters. Seven minutes later, the Starship booster named Super Heavy returned to Earth.

The return of Super Heavy is still attracting attention as the booster was captured by Mechazilla, the giant arm of the launch tower. This is the third time SpaceX has demonstrated the rocket-capture robot.

After the separation occurred, the upper stage continued to fly towards the Atlantic Ocean. Supposedly, about 17.5 minutes after takeoff, the rocket spread four payloads on its sub-orbital trajectory, but this did not happen because the burning process failed.

Several rapper machines were reported to have died as Starship almost ended the burning process. It is not yet known what caused it, but SpaceX said there was a 'catastrophic event'. Therefore, Starship became out of control and lost control.

Starship rolled over and most likely experienced an explosion while still in the sky. The reason is, SpaceX lost contact about 9 minutes and 30 seconds after takeoff. A number of viewers also said that they saw debris from the top stage of Starship.

The non-burning debris is believed to fall in an area that SpaceX previously determined. However, reflecting on the seventh test flight which also ended in failure, the top-stage debris of Starship could fall in other areas, even falling into residential areas.

"The remaining debris will fall within the previously planned Puing Response Area. There is no toxic material contained in the debris and no significant impact is expected on marine species or water quality," SpaceX said in its latest broadcast.
