IKA Fisipol UKI Urges Police To Completely Investigate The Death Case Of Kenzaha Walewangko

The Jakarta Alumni Association (IKA) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) of the Indonesian Christian University (UKI) urges the police to handle the case of the death of a Fisipol student, Kenzaha Walewangko (22), with professionalism and justice.

The head of IKA Fisipol UKI, Marlen Sitompul, emphasized that the police must immediately arrest all the perpetrators of the beatings that caused the death of the victim. He stressed that acts of violence that kill a person's life cannot be tolerated.

"Police officers must immediately arrest the perpetrators of the beatings that killed Fisipol students. This is a state of law, and the law must be enforced fairly," Marlen said when confirmed, Friday, March 7.

Marlen also highlighted the circulation of video incidents that should make it easier for the police to identify and arrest the perpetrators.

In addition to demanding action from the police, IKA Fisipol UKI also asked the UKI Rectorate to proactively assist in handling this case and not only wait for the police process. The Chancellor was asked to take firm steps against students involved in the beatings, including imposing severe sanctions such as dismissal or drop out (DO).

"The Chancellor must be firm in taking action against the students involved. Those who are proven to have beaten must be expelled," he said.

IKA Fisipol UKI also asked the UKI Foundation and the Rectorate to evaluate the campus security system, considering the beating incident that occurred in the campus environment showed negligence in security.

campus security seems to be malfunctioning and ignoring this criminal act. This incident cannot be taken lightly because it has caused the loss of a student's life," added Marlen.

Meanwhile, as a form of solidarity with the death of Kenzaha Walewangko, a number of students and students of Fisipol UKI held a flower sowing action in the UKI Cawang Campus area, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, on Thursday, March 6, evening. This action was accompanied by the lighting of candles and the installation of banners that read Rest In Peace.

"We are doing this as a form of solidarity with the victim who is a friend of our generation," said one student who asked not to be named.

The student also urged the police to immediately investigate this case and reveal who was involved in the beating. The flower sowing action was escorted by campus security officers.

This case is still under police investigation. The public, especially the UKI academic community, is waiting for firm steps from the authorities to reveal facts and provide justice for victims.
